The Corporate Engineering Department at Mirror Lake has an opening for a Designer to provide CAD/Plant 3D systems design support on project and maintenance engineering and construction activities as well as maintaining and updating facility master data.  This position strives to continually identify and implement improved drafting and design processes to support engineering departmental and corporate goals.

The person chosen will operate CAD systems and peripheral equipment to produce new drawings or modify existing drawings as needed and create and update numbering, filing, and drafting/design procedures and standards in and for use within Ergon.  The person selected will also coordinate with Ergon’s business segments on CAD standards and systems and will assist in training CAD system users in applying the standards and ensure the standards are followed.    

Occasional travel will be necessary as the person selected will perform facility site visits and gather field data to assist in scope development, project reviews, and development of modified or new drawings and audit construction activities.  The person chosen will also assign and issue line, valve, and drawing numbers and the transferal of drawings of both hard copies and electronic files and will prepare bills of materials to assist engineers in preparation of cost estimates for projects.

A high school diploma or GED is required, with a postsecondary or Associate’s degree in technical drawing or similar experiences being preferred.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and AutoCAD is a must.  Experience with the operation and maintenance of current AutoCAD and Plant 3D or similar design drafting software and concrete, structural, and piping construction are pluses.  The person selected must have strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and be self-motivated and professional.
