ErgonArmor: Area Sales Manager (Gulf States Region)

The ErgonArmor Industrial Corrosion and Wear Protection group seeks an experienced, ambitious and results-driven, Area Sales Manager to lead our thriving Gulf States U.S. region. The Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading our vision of providing sophisticated solutions to complex corrosion problems. They accomplish this through targeting and closing sales opportunities for the ErgonArmor Industrial Corrosion and Wear Protection product line. The focus markets include pulp and paper, chemical processing, petroleum refining, petrochemical and waste water treatment facilities, for new construction and maintenance and repair projects. The Area Sales Manager will promote and sell ErgonArmor’s thin and thick film membranes and linings, metal repair compounds, trowel applied monolithics, polymer concretes and grouts and tile and brick lining systems.

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading and supporting a network of independent sales agents and key distributors and will also be responsible for personal sales contribution. The customer targets include facility owners and operators, qualified applicators and installers, EPC and GC companies, consulting engineers, architects, and other specifying entities. The Area Sales Manager must understand and be able to lead their team in how to uncover and diagnose the needs at each level of the contract chain in the sales cycle and to how prepare and present an effective value proposition that solves the customer’s needs and close the sale. The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for their region’s business objectives including sales and gross margin targets and expense control.

Specific Tasks include

  • Identify, engage and close new construction and maintenance and repair opportunities within all focus markets the business has selected.

  • Maintain information on the opportunities, targets and activities related to the Industrial Corrosion and Wear Protection product lines to record in weekly and monthly reports and present during scheduled conference calls or meetings.

  • Identify all sales opportunities and work with the North America Sales Manager, North America Business Development Manager and VP of Sales and Marketing to develop regional strategies and tactics.

  • Promote a positive image and develop long-term relations with all customer stakeholders.

  • Manage sales support activities in assigned territory including but not limited to field technical support, credit and collection efforts, contract negotiations and inventory forecasting.

  • Resolve customer complaints following company policies and procedures and by investigating problems, seeking cause and solutions through the technical group, and presenting solutions to the customer.

  • Travel as required throughout the territory, typically upwards of 60% with overnight stays.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years technical sales experience in protective coatings and linings applications or chemical resistant masonry / brick lining construction. Sales in industrial related construction products will also be considered. Concrete construction, steel tank and equipment fabrication experience a plus.

  • Knowledge of and experience with key focus industries, companies and facilities within the region.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Solid communication skills; writing, presentation software, public speaking and one on one negotiations.

  • Familiarity with CRM programs.

  • Strong interpersonal skills – communicate effectively with all customer levels (business owners, purchasing personal, engineering, product users and internally at all levels.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management or marketing or equivalent work experience.
